PAGE 4-B HARRIS COUNTY JOURNAL - THURSDAY, MAY 27, 2010 Rick Lipp Community Cpel Church Long Prayers Much fuss has been made over public praying, and even the proper prayer posture (stands or kneels). Most of us ministers have been instruct- ed as to how we should pray when praying in public, and I don't mind the advise, howev- er when we talk to Gold and mvest our heart in our prayerful purpose its so good when the true liberty of prayer is avail- able. It was said of an old moun- tain preacher from the hill country how much he loved to pray, but because his prayers often ran lengthy in time not many would call the old preach- er to pray. One weekend he was so hungry to talk to God he arrived for Sunday morning worship well before day light, so he could be alone with God in prayer and not be offensive to anyone. He began to pray and in the warm pleasant closeness in con- versation with the Ird he total- ly lost tract of time. Then some- one touched him on the shoulder and whispered Brother "we are ready to start service now if you don't mind." Slowly he arose from the alter face soaked with tears, his eyes puffy from this joyful pressure of the task, he apolo- gized for the delay "I just got so enthused and excited in my talking with God please forgive me." After that morning others began to arrive early to pray os a resultthe chta:h e Or0d- #d :spn:!m]y. oumeri ,and 8immeilmia rand.and larger sanctuary was necessary, to seat all of the attendance.
